REPORT OF THE JUSTICE AND SECURITY SUB-COMMITTEE HELD ON WEDNESDAY, 28TH SEPTEMBER, 2022 AT THE MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY HALL, KADE

Members of the Justice and Security sub-committee met on Wednesday, 28th September, 2022 in accordance with subsection (1) of section 19 of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936).

EMERGENCE OF ‘WEE GHETTOS’ POSING A THREAT TO PUBLIC SECURITY

The Sub-committee noted with concern the emergence of wee hubs or ghettos that is resulting in more theft cases within the municipality.  Members expressed worry in the situation and recommended that the Police Department should address the General Assembly on the measures taken to curb the situation.

PROVISION OF IMMIGRATION OFFICE

The attention of the Sub-Committee was also drawn to the provision of office space to accommodate the immigration service. This is to help the municipality benefit largely from the services of the Ghana Immigration especially now that there is almost an influx of foreigners within the municipality.

In conclusion, the Sub-Committee outlined the above to be forwarded to the Executive Committee for consideration.
