REPORT OF THE JUSTICE AND SECURITY SUB-COMMITTEE HELD ON WEDNESDAY, 16TH FEBRUARY, 2022 AT THE MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY HALL, KADE

Members of the Justice and Security sub-committee met on Wednesday, 16th February, 2022 in accordance with subsection (1) of section 19 of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936).

TRAFFIC SITUATION WITHIN THE MUNICIPALITY

The attention of the Sub-Committee was drawn on the emergence of traffic within Kade Township especially on market days. Members attributed the traffic situation to the following:

  • Wrong parking of long vehicles
  • Lack of enforcement of “No Parking Rules” by the Police Service
  • Encroachment of Lorry Park by traders among others

After lengthy deliberation, members recommended that the Assembly organizes a stakeholder meeting to find solutions to this menace.

Members also recommended that there should be a diversion around Ajara Junction through to the Stadium Road to reduce the number of vehicles plying the main road especially on market days.

LOCKING OF INFORMATION CENTERS

The attention of the Sub-Committee was also drawn on the influx of Information Centers and non-adherence to the bye-laws on noise pollution.

After lengthy deliberation, members recommended that there should be a task force to lock such Information Centers over non-compliance.

 CONCLUSION

In conclusion, the Sub-Committee outlined the above to be forwarded to the Executive Committee for consideration.
