SOCIAL SERVICES SUB-COMMITTEES HELD ON 13TH JUNE, 2023

  • The Social Services Sub=committee met on the 13th June, 2023 at the conference hall of the Department of food and Agriculture.
  • The Committee came up with the following recommendations:
  •  PASS/ENFORCE BY-LAWS ON CHILD LABOUR
  • The Assembly should pass by-laws on child labour to include a ban on children below 20years from riding commercial tricycles and motorbikes. Also ban children from going out after 9:00pm to curb the excessive poor performance of students and to reduce the prevalence of social vices

  • HASTEN THE RENEWAL OF NHIS CARDS FOR INDIGENTS  
  • The delay in the renewal of NHIS cards for the vulnerable/Indigents has led to more complains and affects their access to health care. The Committee recommends that management directs the Municipal NHIS officer to hasten the free renewal of expired NHIS cards for indigents.

  • CHP COMPOUND FOR STADIUM AREA
  • The Assembly should help provide a permanent building to be used as a CHP compound for the people of Kade-Abease (Stadium area).

The state of the current health facility (CHP) is faced with sustainability issues (rent).
